I grew up inspired by art. My mom was a bronze artist known for Western and Indigenous sculptures, and I was her assistant as I grew up. I did airbrushing and pin striping in my late teens. In my early 20s, I was introduced to German and English Master engravers who took me under their wings to teach me through an apprenticeship. The English master later went on to engrave for Buckingham Palace. I eventually found myself working for a company where I was subcontracted to do work for the Royal Canadian Mint. Now self-employed, I still do hand engraving and have also taken up metal casting, like my mother. My casting projects include small sculptures, belt buckles, and jewelry. I also teach these skills at my studio here in Port Alberni. I can be found at FrogWerkz in Port Alberni. The shop is on Instagram and Facebook. There is also a Facebook group where classes and current offerings are posted, called FrogWerkz Hoppenings.
