Dr. Mhavil Den Ouden is a visionary educator and international artist. Deeply rooted in her heritage as a member of the Tribu Panay Bukidnon originally from Lambunao Iloilo, Philippines, she uses her “Obra Maestra” to honor her indigenous traditions and fulfill her mission to support her tribe.
Holding a PhD in Educational Management, she has worked as a teacher, guidance counselor and English instructor in both the Philippines and Spain. Her award-winning artworks showcased from the Binanog festival to exhibitions in galleries in Paris, Amsterdam and Calgary. Her work celebrates Indigenous heritage and spirituality with a strong theme of Mother Earth in her works.
Beyond art and education, she is a devoted mother and humanitarian who supports school feeding programs and advocates for opportunities that uplift students and her community in the Philippines. She has made a home in Port Alberni since May 2026.
