My name is Milo Dvorak, I graduated from ADSS. I’ve lived on Vancouver Island my whole life but I did most of my growing in Port Alberni. I create my art at home, mostly, though it leads to some chaos. I’ve been making since I gained hand dexterity, but within the past year or two I’ve started committing more time to progress.
I’m in love with the concept of human creation. I think it’s the closest someone can get to understanding another’s mind. I love fantastical creatures and fantasy settings. I usually like mixed media the most for bringing my ideas to life, letting texture, colour, and movement aid in visual story telling. I’m inspired by my experiences and my community, as well as pop culture and the beautiful surroundings I live in. Local flora and fauna will always have a home in my art, from tardigrades to humpback whales, lichen to old growth trees.
I’m deeply interested in the cultural impact of art throughout history, as humans we’ve always had an urge to create. I don’t need to know why we create but I do want to know what causes us to feel so much for fibre and pigment.
