Muriel A. Bush

Muriel A. Bush is an acrylic and oil painter whose work moves fluidly between realism and the ethereal. With more than 55 years of artistic experience, she brings a confident, intuitive energy to her practice. After early years of self-directed learning, she studied at the University of British Columbia and later graduated with honours in painting and printmaking from Emily Carr College of Art and Design. Her work has evolved from strong representational roots into a distinctive semi-abstract style shaped by experimentation, movement, and a deep love of the creative process.

Now based on Vancouver Island, Muriel finds ongoing inspiration in the rhythms and light of the West Coast. Her paintings capture fleeting, often overlooked moments: reflections, shifting skies, the quiet pull of the ocean, translating them into expressive, layered compositions. Alongside her studio work, she has been an active arts educator and community contributor, sharing her passion through teaching, leadership, and support for local initiatives. Her work invites viewers into a space that feels both grounded and gently dreamlike.
