I started painting in about 2004. I purchased a Bob Ross book in a used bookstore in Comox BC. My father who was quite an accomplished artist supplied me with some supplies and I read the book from cover to cover. I sat down and painted my first landscape which was quite a challenge.
I have since taken lessons from Elissa Anthony who is a well-known Vancouver Island artist. I have taken several online courses over the years and have enjoyed painting both landscapes and seascapes with inspiration coming from my travels across Canada, and the United States. I have also been across the Northwest Territories and all-around Alaska. I have recently changed from oils to acrylics which I am enjoying very much.
I am happy to be a part of the Port Alberni painting community.
