Colour Fest 2026 — Community Arts Activity

Alberni Arts invites local artists to apply to lead a community arts activity at Colour Fest 2026 — one of Port Alberni’s most vibrant family-oriented festivals. We are seeking proposals for an interactive, inclusive experience where participants of all ages collaborate to create a shared artwork or performance.
What we’re looking for
Eligible Activity Types
Large-Scale Visual Art
Community mural, mosaic, chalk art
Textile & Fibre Art
Yarn bombing, collaborative quilt, weaving, banners
Sculpture
Driftwood, lantern making, painted rock garden, wish tree
Cultural & Story-Based
Community mapping, storytelling, poetry wall
Proposal requirements
Your Activity Must Be
- Interactive — accessible to participants of all ages and abilities, encouraging hands-on involvement
- Unique and dynamic — visually, culturally, or meaningfully distinctive to the community
- Produce a final work — a completed piece for display; if performance-based, final documentation must be included

Compensation
Artist Honorarium & Supply Budget
Selected artists receive an artist fee plus a separate budget for materials and supplies.

Materials & supplies reimbursement
Receipts are required for all supply reimbursements. Funding supported by the Arrowsmith Rotary Club.
