Stephen Mann, a self taught artist, has lived in Port Alberni over the past four years.
His career as a tree planter influences his paintings. Taking inspiration from all over beautiful British Columbia, from the tops of mountains soaking in the panoramic views, to down in the mossy and mysterious forest floors, to the many awe inspiring beaches that dot the mainland and Vancouver Island.
Stephen works at home in his studio, working with acrylic paint on canvas to create geometric designs inspired by landscapes he has seen throughout his journeys. “My story is steeped in nature, our connection to it and to each other,” Stephen says. Inspiration could come from anywhere for Stephen, from music, to nature, and family. Surrealism is Stephen’s favorite style but also enjoys the complexity of abstract geometric art.
