Calling all paint & sip lovers! The Community Arts Council of the Alberni Valley has teamed up with the Capitol Theatre to offer this unique “paint night” style fundraiser on Thursday, April 10th at 6pm. Setup on stage at the Capitol Theatre (don’t worry, you won’t be asked to perform!) participants will paint an image of a winding arbutus tree at Sproat Lake, hosted and taught by local artists.

Ticket sales will go towards supporting the local arts council, and drink sales will benefit the Portal Players. We’ll have a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including our signature ‘Paint Water’ cocktail/mocktail. Yes, this time you can actually drink the paint water!

This paint night is a part of a suite of art making services hosted by the arts council, from our “paint night” special events, in-house craft nights, and creative birthday parties. If you’re a fan of paint nights, we’re available for hire to help you host your own event. The best part? You will be supporting local artists from Port Alberni and the arts council! Doors will open at 5:40 PM, and painting will begin promptly at 6:00 PM. This is a 19+ event, all participants must bring two pieces of valid ID to enter.

1. What is Playhouse Paint Night?

Playhouse Paint Night is a special “paint & sip” style fundraiser hosted by the Community Arts Council of the Alberni Valley in collaboration with the Capitol Theatre. Participants will enjoy a fun and creative painting session led by local artists while sipping on beverages.

2. When and where is the event?

The event will take place on Thursday, April 10th at the Capitol Theatre in Port Alberni. Doors open at 5:40 PM, and painting begins promptly at 6:00 PM.

5. Do I need painting experience to participate?

Not at all! This event is designed for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced painters. Our talented artists will guide you step-by-step.

Your ticket includes:

  • A canvas and all necessary painting supplies
  • Step-by-step guidance from local artists
  • A fun and interactive experience in a unique setting

7. Is food or drink available at the event?

Yes! A selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase, including our signature “Paint Water” cocktail/mocktail. Proceeds from drink sales will support the Portal Players. There will be no food aside from light snacks at the event.

8. Can I bring my own food or drinks?

No outside food or beverages are permitted. Drinks will be available for purchase at the event.

9. Is this event 19+?

Yes, this is a 19+ event. All participants must bring two pieces of valid government-issued ID.

Wear something comfortable that you don’t mind getting a little paint on. Aprons will be provided, but accidents happen!

11. Can I sit with my friends?

Yes! If you’re attending with a group, we recommend arriving early to grab seats together.
