Alberni Arts Council Invites Community Members to Join Committees
The Alberni Arts Council is inviting community members to get involved by joining one of its working committees. This is an opportunity to help shape the future of arts and culture in the Alberni Valley while contributing skills, ideas, and lived experience to a community-driven organization.
Committees play an essential role in supporting the work of Alberni Arts Council, providing focused input, shared leadership, and practical support in key areas of the organization. Whether you are an artist, arts supporter, professional, student, or community member with an interest in governance, collections, or membership engagement, there is a place for you at the table.
Expected commitment is approximately one meeting per month, with some preparation required, for a total time commitment of up to five hours per month.
Committees currently seeking members include:
Membership Committee
Help strengthen and grow our membership by shaping member benefits, outreach strategies, and engagement opportunities. This committee supports a welcoming, inclusive arts community and ensures members feel connected and valued.
Permanent Art Collection Committee
Support the stewardship of the Council’s permanent art collection. This committee will review the complex issues surrounding the care of the collection, how it will be cared going forward, and communicating the decisions to the community.
Governance Committee
Support strong, transparent, and accountable leadership by assisting with policy development, board practices, and governance frameworks. This committee will begin by reviewing and updating the arts council’s bylaws.
Why join a committee?
- Contribute meaningfully to the arts in the Alberni Valley
- Share your skills and perspectives in a collaborative setting
- Support long-term sustainability and community impact
- Gain experience in arts leadership, governance, or collections
- Connect with artists, creatives, and community leaders
Committee roles are volunteer positions and are designed to be accessible, supportive, and collaborative. No prior committee experience is required—just an interest in the arts and a willingness to contribute.
