Jim Sears, Originally from New York, immigrated to Canada in 1974 to work in a logging camp in Toba inlet.

Over the years he had traveled all over BC working at different logging camps along the way. Now that Jim is retired, he has found the time and energy to make art full time. Mainly working with watercolor and ink, he has also taken to working with coloured pencils as they complement his watercolor art.

Jim mainly works from his home studio but also enjoys painting in the great outdoors. “I spent most of my adult life in the Forest Industry and have seen the wonderful wild country that is our BC Coastal panoramas” Jim says. He finds inspiration typically through his travels, seeing the beauty everywhere from unique buildings to cloud formations. As well, his work has recently been evolving to include more life into it in the form of birds, people, and other wildlife. Jim resides in Parksville currently, but he is a staple at the Grove Gallery, where he has taught many artist workshops and sells prints.
